Some images can be easy, however the difficult ones need an expert in lighting.

We have recently acquired additional lighting for your commercial needs. In-fact, this new system is three times more powerful than Nikon's flagship strobe. It gives us the ability to light an entire warehouse or any facility for that matter with the high end results you would expect.  It's completely wireless and a pair of these units can be placed over 200 feet from each-other. They are so powerful they can over power the sunlight on a cloudless day. For more information on how we can highlight your facility, please give us a call, or email me. Thank you!

Headshots - Do I really need one? and...how often? Kevin Richter Photography Cleveland Ohio http://kjrstudio.com/blog/2016/3/headshots---do-i-really-need-one-and-how-often Headshots are, without a doubt, the single most impactful element of your professional bio.

I'll say it again....and listen carefully.....

Headshots are, without a doubt, the single most impactful element of your professional bio.

Why? Because images invoke a quick and powerful emotional response
in a way written words can't.

People do look at who they hire by the image they portray.

Seriously consider your current representation photograph of you.

If you never gave it much thought, you should!

On your website, Linkedin, business card....... it matters.

So.....what makes a great headshot?

To sum it all up, it's PERSONALITY!

Personality.....the art of being you!

You need to give casting directors and clients an accurate version of yourself.

Don't over do it!, but you do want the shot that "Pops!"

It is very important to choose a headshot photographer who demonstrates the skills and talent to deliver a great headshot.

Only you can bring your personality to the shoot, but a great headshot photographer can help spot it, capture it, and

be sure it comes through in the final result.

You should get a new headshot whenever your appearance changes substantially.

It's important that your headshot looks like you on a great day. If you change hairstyles, gain or lose weight, or feel you're looking more mature, it is probably time to update your headshot.

Be aware that due to the recent improvements and availability of inexpensive digital photography equipment, there are a lot more people offering photography services that are not really up to professional standards. Do your research.

The camera is one component, the lighting is the other.

Often times the final shot will depend on how it was lit.

Unbrellas with a full lighting complement...or a flash on top of the camera.....

There is cost involved, and there are some really great photographers with affordable prices.

Don't skimp...This is you!

Get a clear understanding of what's included.

Pricing... I've seen everything from free to thousands of dollars. It depends on you.

Consider what it might cost to rent a few thousand dollars worth of equiptment....an operator...and a tech...to run everything.

Better yet, think of the last time you called a plummer....lol!!!

Do your homework. Figure out what you need, when you need it, and how quicky you need it.

The final decision should be to use a professional, you deserve it...

One suggestion for any business is uniformity.

Do you allow members of the management team submit thier own photos?

Most corporations I've worked with prefer a standard background that may match company colors.

Another factor is how transparent is the process of shooting 10-20 headshots during a session.

A well planned photo session on location is the way to go.

What does your headshot really say? http://kjrstudio.com/blog/2015/10/what-does-your-headshot-really-say

Where to Use Professional Headshots

Your own personal headshot should be used on every webpage that involves you. Photo continuity with social media pages, website, email, and print materials builds rapport, trust and facial recognition. The more an individual sees your photo, the more connected they will feel towards you – even if you have never had a personal conversation with them.

Your headshot can, and should, be included on the following:

  • Website About and Bio Pages
  • Email Signatures
  • Social Media Profiles
      • LinkedIn
      • Facebook
      • Twitter
      • Instagram
  • Online Communities & Forums
  • Blog Post Author Avatar
  • Blog Comments Avatar
  • News articles
  • Presentations & Proposals
  • Business Cards
  • Letterhead
  • Brochures & Postcards

Any time information is listed about you or you have the opportunity to interact with someone online, your headshot should be present.

Get Your Photos Professionally Done

Don’t assume you can create quality headshots with your standard point and shoot camera or phone. The photos they produce will not be high quality or versatile for your needs. Spend a little extra to hire a professional photographer who is an expert in lighting, color, camera settings, poses, and post-production. The photos professionals capture are going to be the highest quality and your headshots will have a longer shelf life.

Pick the Right Outfit

Headshots show how you look at your best, so dress professionally. Dress as if you are meeting a client or important investor for the first time, the goal is to make a great first impression. When choosing colors to wear, pick colors that match or compliment the colors of your brand – when colors are matching or compliment each other they will always be more attractive to the eye. Avoid wearing patterns or jewelry that are too busy or distract from your face.

Make sure all team members are being consistent in wearing the same style of clothing. If everyone is in suits and one guy is casual it can throw off the whole vibe when seen together.

Choose A Good Background

The headshot photo background can have a dramatic effect on the impression your photos make. Generally speaking, you don’t want a background that will draw attention away from you. The five most popular backgrounds we use are white, studio blue, fashion grey, green and black.

Be Yourself

A headshot is not only a reflection of what you look like but also shows your personality. Don’t be afraid to smile or look directly at the camera.

Showcasing yourself in the best manner is important for acquiring new clients, partners, or team members. It all starts with how you choose to promote your own personal image. Having old photos or no photos at all, shows that you’re uninterested in going the extra mile to make your business look good – the result, your company becomes unapproachable.

KJRstudio's Final Thought:

I’ve seen my share of corporate photo spreads in my 25 years as a corporate communicator and as a professional photographer, and I can always tell when an organization has taken the time to think about their corporate brand in their leadership headshots. Creating and maintaining a consistent brand plays a critical role in the success or failure of any organization’s brand strategy. But it’s not just about brand colors and logo. A key element of a company’s brand is portraying a consistent and intentional persona in the leadership’s headshots. After all, they are the company.

Bad headshot keeping you down? Tips for a whole new you....! http://kjrstudio.com/blog/2015/10/bad-headshot-keeping-you-down-tips-for-a-whole-new-you Why invest in having professional headshots:

Cleveland Head - Shots http://kjrstudio.com/blog/2015/9/cleveland-head---shots

Suppose two business owners embark on a web marketing campaign. They’re both accountants and intend to utilize Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and other such tools to get their respective brands known in the community and attract new customers. One posts a picture of headshot of herself wearing business attire and a bright, friendly smile. The other posts a dim picture of himself working at a computer - one in which his face is barely distinguishable. Which would you expect to be more well received among prospective clients?

In the above situation, the second accountant could very well be the best numbers-cruncher in town. However, his image portrays him as just another accountant behind a desk - not the most inspiring of photos. Meanwhile, the first accountant displays a welcoming appearance, as if she’d be happy to tackle your accounting needs.

By now, you get the big picture. Now, let’s delve into the value of a great headshot in closer detail.

A Photo is Often Your First Impression.

You only get one chance to make a first impression. And, increasingly, that first impression is a virtual one.

Whether for business purposes or otherwise, a high-quality photo is important in today’s world, specifically on your social media pages, as this is the first encounter many people will have with your brand.

One-Third of Consumers Engage Businesses Via Social Media.

Consumers increasingly use social media to interact with the businesses they frequent. In fact, the JD Power and Associates 2013 Social Media Benchmark Study measured consumer engagement with companies in a social marketing context. The figures are as follows:

Consumers ages 18 to 29: 23 percent

Consumers ages 30 to 49: 39 percent

Consumers ages 50 and over: 38 percent

So, expect around a third of your customer base to view your online photo. You’ll want it to present a welcoming, professional image, not one that will turn them away.

Majority of Businesses Recruit Online.

For job seekers, a great headshot is more important now than ever before. According to Jobvite’s 2012 Social Recruiting Survey, recruiting via social media is now a widespread practice, with employers doing so at the following percentages:

LinkedIn: 93 percent

Facebook: 2/3 of all employers

Twitter: 54 percent

Seventy three percent have hired employees through social media.

With these statistics in mind, you’ll want an image that portrays professionalism, not one from the bar last night, or "Hey this looks cool!"

A crisp clean headshot that shows you and your personality.

Taking a picture of you and friends and cropping them out is not the right approach.

Listen to this carefully.

A headshot can be beneficial to business owners and other professionals alike. With about one third of consumers engaging their favorite brands online, business owners can gain a competitive advantage with a top-notch headshot. And, with most recruiters now using social media, working professionals need a high-quality headshot now more than ever before.

Think of this in terms of how you’d want to look when meeting a customer or recruiter in person. You’d want to look as professional as possible. As such, since many will “meet” you for the first time on the Internet, you’ll want your image to portray professionalism and put forward the best face possible for your business or personal brand.

I take a bad picture!

How crazy is that? Do you know that most "models" are everyday people?

At Richter Photography, we assist in branding with the professional results you expect and without the up-sell.

Your Headshot Matters! http://kjrstudio.com/blog/2015/8/your-headshot-matters

Say you’re trying to find a dentist in your area. You go to a website for a local dentist, and it looks neat and clean. You can find the address of the practice and see the services offered. Except there’s one problem: the site features absolutely no pictures of the dentist, his/her hygienist, the receptionist, or anyone else who works in the office. Instead, you find cheesy stock photography that was clearly purchased from some third party source.

The experience might make you uneasy, right? You’re going to need to trust this individual to care for your teeth and gums, and yet you have no way of seeing this person’s face. This is exactly why professional head-shots are crucial for your website. It seems like a subtle detail, but a head-shot truly can help increase your conversion rate and turn your site into a powerful selling tool for your business.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re selling real estate or skincare products or furniture, people want to be able to get to know you on a more personal level before they work with you. One way to do this is by showing them what you look like. When they can put a face to a name and a brand, they instantly feel more comfortable partnering with you. You’re no longer just some disembodied entity, you’re someone they might see in the grocery store or at the gym. A professional head-shot truly is your secret weapon.

Are you happy? with your head-shot? http://kjrstudio.com/blog/2015/1/are-you-happy-with-your-head-shot When posing for headshots, you’re putting yourself in the hands of the photographer you’ve hired. Hopefully that photographer will make you feel (and look) your best, but things can go awry...

“Your headshot is your calling card,”

Your headshot is your ambassador to the industry. For people who don't know you, it's your best chance to make a strong impression and compel them to bring you in.

Every day, I get phone calls from prospective clients telling me it's insane out there with so many photographers competing for headshot business. How do you know who's good and who's not?

The second someone steps in front of my camera, my brain goes into overdrive to answer one question: How do I make this person look his or her best?

Before you spend your hard-earned money to have professional headshots taken, here is some personal advice from a professional.

Don't just take someone's word that a photographer is great. There are tons of headshots photographers who are great, but that doesn't mean they are right for you.

The next question I get is cost.

The answer is always....you buy shoes for 200.00, buy fail to invest in your-self...

Don's risk making yourself, or your company look bad with an unprofessional image. http://kjrstudio.com/blog/2014/11/dons-risk-making-yourself-or-your-company-look-bad-with-an-unprofessional-image Head-shots Can Make Your Business More Money.

By now you realize the importance of promoting your professional head-shots EVERYWHERE.

You also realize that with today’s technology, the essentiality of having a professional head shot is through the roof!

And that’s good news, because there are near infinite ways to take advantage and literally “cash in” on your head-shot like never before.

And I hope you take action and really get the most leverage possible, starting today!

And why wouldn’t you? You’re perfectly entitled! And remember the invaluable benefits of having an executive portrait that speaks you in volume, and helps you and your organization shine!

Remember that first impressions count! And there are so many different websites to promote your corporate head shots, that it’s literally mind boggling.

The beauty, and your main advantage, is your corporate head shot. That’s how you can stand out in the world of information technology and social profiles.

Think About This For A Moment…

I have a question for you – if you can make an awesome first impression with your ideal clients, how many first impressions would you make, and how often?

Hopefully your answer is “To as many potential clients as possible, and as often as I possibly can!”

And the best way to leverage your first impression, is by having an awesome business head shot created by a proven and reliable head shot photographer.

“What’s the point of getting a professional head shot when I can just take one with my smartphone?“

And the truth is that if you want to make the best impression with the best clients possible, it’s always a good idea to showcase your best image when you’re at your best!

Don’t risk making yourself, or your company look bad with an UNPROFESSIONAL image!

Wow....how to price your headshot! http://kjrstudio.com/blog/2014/11/wow-how-to-price-your-headshot Each city has a different market.

My experience is based in Cleveland, Ohio.

I do lightly follow other areas of the country.

These prices are primarily

Basic rates that you will see and what you will get:

$99 to $150: Wham bam, in and out, Supercuts version of headshots. About 5% of the time you can find a beginning photographer that has a good eye, but the other 95% of the time you get very little in the packages and they usually are very dry and won't land you a lot of work.

$175 to $225: These are also beginning photographers, hobbyists and intermediate photographers. Most are still developing their eye. The packages are usually smaller and you have a 30% chance of landing a photographer with a really good eye, but the skill level handling a camera varies a lot. Check out whatever work they have and make sure you like their work. Also, make sure you can communicate well with them. Check their work by looking if the people look the same, if the backgrounds are cluttered or boring or if the images seem flat. Look to see if there are poles, wires, and other background things jutting out of the side of someone's head and other simple little things like that.

$225 to $750: This is the package range for head-shots for professionals. In most cases you will find a photographer in this range that will take great pictures.

Always check out their work and make sure you like their style. Make sure that you can communicate well with them. Often they will have a site or a book for you to look at. My head-shot package starts at $275 and you get a lot from that basic package. This is the range you start looking at what you get for the price.

$750 to $1200: This is normally the photographer who has based their business around fashion and commercial work and does head-shots on the side. Most warrant these fees based off of training, experience & diversity. Typically the price is worth it. But this might not be in your budget. As an actor you do not need to spend this amount of money for your shoot. Since these photographers generally focus a lot more on model portfolios they might be a bell and whistle you don't need. There are also a few head-shot photographers in this range who have this as their celebrity package.

Often when a celebrity is getting their shots done you have agreements that say you can't sell the images or use them for promotion in any way. So, the photographer will charge more because they cannot use the images in marketing.

Over $1200 as a starting package: : Now, if you are talking about head-shot... NOT MODELING SHOTS, you better do your homework here. This is the range that some photographers charge and warrant that kind of a fee because of the reputation they have developed or because their main body of work is not based on head-shots but more probably in fashion or commercial. This, however, is also the range that the scam artists start. LOOK AT THEIR WORK!!! If you are going to be paying these prices, make sure the person is legit. Search them on the web. They will definitely have a website at this point. The website won't look cheesy either!

HOWEVER, if someone spotted you at the mall and wants to make you a star and tells you this photographer is the "only trusted photographer" then you are probably walking into a scam. Get it? It is possible to pay this much for head-shots. Yes, some agents and talent reps may recommend someone this expensive on a list of professionals. However, that is usually intended for their more established clients that fit into the celebrity status. The agent or manager may even say they are the very best in the industry. HOWEVER, the chances of anyone saying this who has a gold chain, a pinky ring, and who spotted you at the mall... being legit is extremely unlikely! Think about it!

LiknedIn Head-Shots Think about it! http://kjrstudio.com/blog/2014/11/liknedin-head-shots-think-about-it LinkedIn is the most widely used website for contacting and building your professional network. When you register on LinkedIn your profile consists of two important elements, the information for your work history and your picture.

However, more people see your picture than your actual resume because that is first thing the eye sees when scrolling through potential connections.

This means that if you haven’t considered your picture as a vital piece to your LinkedIn profile than you haven’t accurately assessed the importance of one. With more than 225 million users in more than 200 countries and territories, it’s never been more important to your visibility to have a quality head-shot for LinkedIn.

We can come to you with our mobile photography setup and can shoot your head-shot indoors or outdoors.

Don’t take your LinkedIn head-shot with your iPhone.

You have invested in your self and your work history shows it, but not investing a quality profile photo could be holding you back from getting that job or making that connection. Invest in your profile head-shot and see the difference it can make on LinkedIn.

Have you ever seen a bad photo on a dating site? We all have, dating or not, they are brought to our attention because the are sometimes so-terrible.... we think, "why would anyone publish that?".

New customers and clients choose to do business with those they trust, share the same idea's and who they can rely on.

A substandard profile picture does exactly the opposite of what you want to convey.

My clients have included comics who are just taking the stage, to millionaires, who's insight have created thousands of jobs.

The difference..... none. They all expect their an image to spread the message of what they are about. Professionalism.

Farmer or Tech! you want to promote your business.

So what does it take and how much?

Not as expensive as you think. I always try to price the job within your budget.

Group rates are the best way to go. A portfolio even at hundred bucks is a small investment, considering you could land thousands.

Who wants to go on a date with a blurry photo, Who wants to do business with the same?

Time to make a small investment in yourself for a change.

You buy a suit, shoes etc.... Look Great at the same time with a nice, professionally done, Head-shot!

I am a super small Cleveland Business, who has had the Luxury of shooting some of the best!

I'm expanding, with the same principals of creating the best head-shots in Cleveland, Ohio.

I thank all our customers, now friends, for their support and generosity in choosing us.

We are still the small, "you get what you want", and "we will change anything to your liking" photo experience.

We don't charge extra fee's because the price is set, royalty free, we want to do the best job possible.

No matter how big - or small, I want to be your photographer...always!

(or at least give me a call for your special situations!)

Always grateful, for the opportunity to discuss what you need!

Goal number one : Have a Professional Headshot! http://kjrstudio.com/blog/2014/10/goal-number-one-have-a-professional-headshot Clean polished professional looking business headshots:

We believe in doing things right. We believe that by using the proper body language, color choices and facial expression, we can craft business headshots that will better connect you to your clients. We believe that better headshots will get you better clients.

Welcome to stress-free headshots:

Listening to our clients, we've learned that most people rather not get in front of a camera and sometimes feel a little stressed about being photographed. We guide you through the process step-by-step. You'll know exactly why we ask you to stand this way and hold your head that way. By keeping you in the loop and making you part of the process we can make your session dramatically less stressful. We do this a lot and have it down to a science.

The science behind your headshot:

And speaking of science ... do you know how a potential client will perceive you if you hold your chin just slightly too high? Or turn your body a little too far away from the camera? We do. We've done our homework about just how quickly a first impression is formed and what personality traits a particular expression will convey.  It's really all about body language and we'll guide you right through it.

Your headshot is your personal brand.

Anything in your appearance impacts the impression you make on potential clients. Together with you we analyze this and work with you to find out exactly how you need to come across.  At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that your potential clients like the values you represent and, based on what they see, connect with you. An executive business headshot, like any other commercial photo, has a purpose. It is a sales document. It's selling something. It's selling you to your next client and we'll help you get the message right.

So, how should your headshot look?

We usually start with 3 adjectives: professional, approachable and confident. All great executive business headshots have at least these in common. Parts of this are in your control. Looking professional comes, usually, from your choice of wardrobe and the care you put into your appearance. Approachability and confidence are conveyed by your stance and facial expression. We work with you to fine-tune these details. You'll be the judge, but we'll help.

Head shot quote of the day! http://kjrstudio.com/blog/2014/10/head-shot-quote-of-the-day A head-shot is not an indulgence and doesn’t mean you’re overly concerned with appearances, or any other nonsense your brain might be telling you. It’s a professional investment, and it matters.

Headshots - Do I really need one? and...how often? Kevin Richter Photography Cleveland Ohio http://kjrstudio.com/blog/2014/7/headshots---do-i-really-need-one-and-how-often Headshots are, without a doubt, the single most impactful element of your professional bio.

Kevin Richter Photography in Cleveland Ohio specializes in quality sessions with a smooth, transparent workflow.

We go the extra mile!

Personal Branding? http://kjrstudio.com/blog/2014/7/personal-branding With so many people out of work and applying for the same jobs, standing out in a crowd is more important than ever. Do I need a head-shot? How about avoiding the "home-made look". http://kjrstudio.com/blog/2014/7/do-i-need-a-head-shot-how-about-avoiding-the-home-made-look What's the point of having a professionally taken head-shot when you have a perfectly good camera you can use to take a perfectly good shot of yourself?

Well, quite simply, it'll look homemade.  It'll look unprofessional, and it'll make you look cheap.

It won't capture you in the best light, at the best angle, and it certainly won't capture that perfect expression which exudes your personality.

These are the things that you should pay a professional photographer to do for you, because they are skilled at how do all of those things!

You see, you don't just pay a photographer for their ability to use expensive equipment which creates quality images.  You pay a photographer for their expertise in the way they position you, the things they can say to you in conversation to evoke those warm, spontaneous expressions which make you look approachable, friendly, yet professional.

A good professional photographer is worth their weight in gold, and even if you're not in business, if you're on the job market, it can make a massive difference to whether people pick up the phone to talk to you, or send you that email that could mean a very lucrative opportunity for you.

You don't get second chances to make a first impression, so make sure you show yourself in your best possible light, especially when you are likely to often be "meeting" people for the first time online these days.  A professionally taken head-shot is vital!

Moral of the story.... don't look cheap, and nobody appreciates a morgue like photo. You always hear "invest in yourself";

A great head-shot takes you there.
